Kenneth Kish

Kenneth Kish comes from a family of givers. When his mother went through testing in 2004 in an attempt to donate one of her kidneys to her ailing husband, she discovered she had Stage 4 kidney cancer. She is still battling this cancer daily. His father has undergone two kidney transplants and suffers from chronic ill health. But in spite of all of this, Kenny considers himself blessed, and he credits his faith and the love of sports for getting him through the obstacles he has faced thus far in his life. "God and my great family are the two things that will forever be with me, no matter what difficult circumstances come my way," he said. Captain of both the Junior Varsity football and baseball team in his sophomore year at El Camino High School, Kenny said that when he steps out onto the freshly-cut green grass, "I suddenly become worry free." Nevertheless, Kenny said he feels a tremendous weight on his shoulders to do well in school. Maintaining a GPA of 4.0, Kenny wants to graduate from a top-ranked university, become a professional athlete, and enter into public service. "I want to help others, as other heroes have helped my family," he said. The principal at Oceanside High said that Kenny "has a quiet confidence. He is humble, yet very generous and willing to help others. He is a young man of impeccable character who works hard every day." Kenny's motto in life could best be summed up this way: "Live every day like it's your last, because the next day is never promised." The Simon Foundation is proud to walk with him in his journey.
